The Clarke, Choctaw and Washington Counties Restitution Recovery Unit was formed in 2001 as a means to assist the courts in the collection of fines, court costs, and restitution. Our most important goal is to make sure that the victims of a crime receive what is owed to them by the person who victimized them.

We also serve the citizens of Clarke, Choctaw and Washington Counties by recovering uncollected court costs and fines, drug usage fees, bail bond forfeitures, and victim compensation assessments. These funds help to support our courts, sheriff’s office, and other local agencies. Once a defendant is in default on their payments, our office may take all lawful steps necessary in order to ensure that a defendant stays in compliance with their court-ordered payments to the court and to the victim.

Since 2001 we have returned $238,956.33 to our victims in the 1st Judicial Circuit.
